Dave Otto to Play Key Role in the Largest Craft Beer Expansion in Nevada

otto pic 10-2015After 19 years, Dave Otto is leaving his position as Big Dog's Brewmaster to take a similar position with PT's Brewing Company, a welcomed new addition to the local craft beer scene.  PT's has over 45 local outlets that will begin to enjoy Dave's delicious, award-winning creations.  It is a great opportunity for Dave and we are excited for him.
Without a doubt, it is a bittersweet moment for those of us who have worked with Dave over the years.  Going back to his days at the Holy Cow, planning out our move to the Draft House, and our recent expansion into bottles and cans being distributed throughout Nevada and Arizona, Dave has made an undeniable and remarkable impression on our company that will not ever be diminished.  He has been an excellent co-worker, employee and friend and we wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors.
When Dave shared with us his news, we immediately got to work to put together the team for our next chapter.  Building on the excellent legacy that has been developed since 1993, and looking to the future growth we are planning for with our brewery division, we wanted our team to be led by someone with a great brewing pedigree and solid experiences to take us to new heights. Specifically, we were looking for someone that will continue the great, award winning traditions of our brewery (including our many brands such as Dirty Dog IPA, War Dog Imperial IPA, Red Hydrant Ale, and Las Vegas Craft Lager), but also bring additional styles and techniques to our portfolio going forward.

Dave Pascual to Join Big Dog's and Lead Brewery Team into the Future

Dave P Pic 10-2015We are extremely excited to announce that Dave Pascual, the award-winning head brewer from Chicago Brewing Company will be joining Big Dog's as our new Director of Brewing Operations.  As the new leader of our brewery team, Dave will be intimately involved in all of the decisions being made about growing the Big Dog's Brewing company brand.  David has been a Las Vegas resident since 1995 and graduated locally from Durango High School.  He continued his education at UNLV where he received a bachelor's degree in microbiology and a minor in chemistry.  While attending college, Pascual was recommended to intern at Barley's Brewing Company by then head brewer Michael Ferguson.  The five- month internship was the spark that upon graduation, David took a career turn from the medical field and decided to pursue his passion in beer.  He applied at Chicago Brewing Company in 2005, and eventually took over as head brewer in 2008.   As the head brewer, Pascual won multiple national and world medals (6 Great American Beer Festival medals and 2 World Beer Cup awards).  David's dedication and desire to grow has led him to Big Dog's Brewing Company.  He is looking forward to the new adventure ahead and continuing the legacy and history of Big Dog's Brewing Company.

Meet Amanda Koeller, Big Dog's New Lead Brewer

Amanda Pic 10-2015We are also excited to announce the promotion of Amanda Koeller into the role of Lead Brewer.  Amanda recently came to Big Dog's after graduating the Master Brewer's Program at the University of California, Davis, and has quickly impressed us with her professionalism, skills, friendly outlook, and ideas for growing the Big Dog's Brewing Company brand.  Also an UNLV graduate (B.S., Hotel Administration), Amanda is a native Las Vegan and a lifetime Rebel fan!  Interestingly enough, Amanda's family have been coming to the Draft House since its earliest days, long before the dream of the Big Dog's brewery had even been dreamt. Amanda is excited to have the opportunity to turn her craft brewing dreams into a reality and her passion into a career.  She looks forward to working with Dave to continue brewing our established brands, as well as bring new, interesting styles to the brewery in the future.  Amanda is among a growing population of women involved in the craft brewing world and we are excited to see her to begin to wear the pink brewery work boots that come with that honor.

Sam McKinney Takes on New Responsibilities, In Charge of Getting Beers Ready for Cans & Bottles

sam mc pic 10-2015Rounding out our team, we are equally excited to announce the promotion of Sam McKinney to the position as our Cellar & Packaging Director.  In addition to his role as brewer, Sam is also tasked with the important duties of filtering beers, getting beer ready for sale, and keeping the brewery organized, especially in terms of planning out our efforts with our cans and bottles.  With a background in botany and science, Sam has been working in the brewery since 2006 and is a key part of our team going forward.   He also quite possibly is sporting the best beard in the brewery business!

More to Come!

BrewLogo_RoundWe are also reviewing applications and interviewing candidates for our Sales Ambassador position.  With Dave Pascual's arrival to the team, we will quickly finalize our efforts to find a sales director to represent our brands in the market and help grow the demand for Big Dog's Brewing Company products.  We hope to be able to announce our selection in the near future and will keep everyone informed.
