"Tripel Dog Dare" is awarded Gold Medal award at 2017 Great American Beer Feastival

Medal marks third consecutive year for Big Dog’s winning a prestigious GABF medal.

Las Vegas, NV, October 10, 2017– Big Dog’s Brewing Company received a gold medal at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition’s 98 beer-style categories were announced October 7 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

“The entire Big Dog’s family is extremely proud to bring another gold medal home to Las Vegas,” says Kurt Wiesner, President of Big Dog’s Brewing Company.  “We are especially proud of our world-class brew team of Dave Pascual, Amanda Koeller, and Sam McKinney, who year-after-year have proven to be among the country’s best at what they do.  We are very blessed to have them as part of our team.”

Big Dog’s Brewing Company was recognized in the Belgian-style Tripel beer-style category for its Triple Dog Dare, a traditional Belgian-inspired ale that pours golden and crisp with a collection of banana, citrus, pear, and spice aromas.  With a clean, floral hop character, assertive bitterness, and a touch of sweetness, the beer’s 9.1% alcohol by volume is deceptively masked. This award marks the second consecutive year that the beer has been awarded a GABF medal, having received the bronze medal in 2016.

The 2017 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 276 expert judges from 7,923 entries, plus 118 Pro-Am entries, received from 2,217 U.S. breweries.

“Each year the Great American Beer Festival showcases the best that American brewers have to offer,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager, Great American Beer Festival. “With a record 8,000 + entries, this year’s competition was the most competitive to date. Congratulations to all the winners who truly demonstrated why the U.S. is the world’s best and most diverse brewing nation.”
