3 Cheers for Charity!
FEEL GREAT. DO GOOD. DRINK WELL!
Something very cool happens each and every Thursday at your neighborhood Big Dog's... When you purchase a Big Dog's Brew each Thursday, you not only receive a delicious, award-winning hand crafted beer to enjoy, but you also receive a wooded Big Dog's Brewing Co. token.
What in the world is the Wooden Nickel for? Every Thursday at your neighborhood Big Dog’s, we celebrate 3 Cheers for Charity! For each Big Dog’s Brew you buy, Big Dog’s will donate 25¢ to a charity of your choice. As you enjoy your Big Dog’s Brew, we give you a wooden nickel for each beer you buy throughout the day and night, every Thursday. Each token represents a 25¢ donation. At each entrance, you will see a wooden box at each door. Each box has 3 slots, one for each of our featured charities.
The featured charities will change from time to time. All are good causes worthy of your support. It’s easy - on your way out the door, just place the tokens you’ve received in the wooden box in the slot designated for your charity of choice. We’ll take care of the rest.
Our current featured charities:
SLOT 1: Patrick Kelley
It is the Patrick Kelley Youth Foundation's goal to help under-privileged children through the Las Vegas Valley. We provide incentives to children who have achieved their goals. Common goals that PKYF sets for individual children are good grades, citizenship and school
attendance. Children who meet these goals receive a new bicycle and helmet. It is our goal to touch at least 300 elementary students in 2016. In addition to rewarding the elementary children, we want to fund at least (2) $20,000 scholarships for deserving high school seniors.
SLOT 2: Three Square
The vision of Three Square is simple: No one in our community should be hungry. By bringing together the resources, experience and passion of the people and businesses of Southern Nevada, we can make sure no one has to. We provide bakery, produce, dairy, non-perishable products and ready-to-eat meals to non-profit and faith-based organizations. We also facilitate childhood and senior nutrition programs. Three Square is a community collaborative partnership with the gaming industry, businesses, non-profit agencies, food distributors, UNLV, the CCSD, governmental entities, the media and hundreds of volunteers to efficiently and effectively serve hope to the hungry.
SLOT 3: Leukemia Lymphoma Society
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Woman of the year campaign for Jessica Barnett. Jessica is a 36 year old mother of two beautiful children and wife to an amazing man. She was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in August 2016. A month later she received a secondary blood cancer diagnosis of small lymphocytic lymphoma. Currently, there are no treatments for these. Her brother passed away this year of stage 4 acute myeloid leukemia and her father is currently battling stage 2 non-hodgkins lymphoma. She is running for woman of the year to obtain a research grant in her brothers memory. Jessica would be honored if you would join her in supporting this cause, Each dollar raised is not only a vote for her for woman of the year but more importantly, a vote to stop this deadly disease.
See you on Thursday!
