As you all already know the impacts of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) are real and growing. Governor Sisolak directed all Nevadans to stay home and for all non-essential businesses to close their doors by noon on March 18th, 2020 for 30 days. All gaming machines were turned off as of midnight on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. No dine-in at food establishments should be allowed until further notice.
I know this is a scary time for all of us. Our commitment to everyone is do whatever we can to make it through the coming month and emerge ready to get back to normal as soon as possible. The situation is changing by the minute and we promise to keep everyone up-to-date throughout. Please follow the recommendations of social distancing and limit your time in public spaces. Be extra safe, diligent and healthy during the upcoming month.
The Immediate Impact
Big Dog’s is a “non-essential” business and we have locked our doors. We will try to operate with Curbside To-Go’s the best we can. Again, the situation is changing by the minute and as a result of this we must lay off most of our employees over the upcoming days. Our goal is to get through this in the next 30 days and return to normal as soon as possible.
We are encouraging all impacted staff (even those working a reduced schedule) to immediately apply for unemployment benefits through the State of Nevada. Below this letter you will find the website to apply for unemployment benefits.
Also, we encourage you to look for temporary available jobs that are out there with “Essential” businesses.
We will be meeting with each employee individually over the next few days, either in person or over the phone. We will be updating each of you with the latest information and guidance for assistance.
We will be staying in regular contact with all employees throughout this shutdown.
As of right now payroll will still be distributed or direct deposited on Friday March 27th, 2020. We will contact you again with information on times for pick up. We will still need to continue to protect you and your families from the spread of this virus. We will have a limited time to pick up checks/direct deposit statements and then they will be mailed. Please look at your emails/texts often for updates we will send out as we get new information. Let us know if your contact information has changed ASAP.
Health, Dental, Vision & Optional Insurance
Everyone that is currently enrolled in health, dental, vision, and optional coverage insurance plans will have benefits in force until March 31, 2020, at a minimum. Any employee that is laid off will have the opportunity to continue insurance coverage via the established COBRA policies.
Ceci will be submitting COBRA claims for each enrolled person with who has been laid off. The COBRA processing company will mail you a packet. If you are able and would like to continue coverage you can fill out the packet and all the information you need should be in there. Also, Nevada Health Link, the State’s official insurance exchange, is opening their open enrollment and you can sign up for coverage through their website. If you have any questions you can contact Jennifer at Layne Insurance and she can point you in the right direction 702-990-8390. If your address has changed please email Ceci Moggia (email@example.com) your updated info ASAP.
We have decided to not deduct the last March installment from your checks for March. We will pay through March 31st, 2020.
We have listed below information for community food distribution centers and links to more information on the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and how to keep you and your family safe. Also, below are the links for Nevada Employment Security (unemployment) and the Nevada Health Link (insurance exchange).
We know you will all have lots of questions. We do not have all of the answers yet, but we will work hard to get answers to questions and communicate with you regularly during the close down. We are in this together and will get through this together.
Please refrain from calling the restaurant. The best way for communication right now is through email. Please email all your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org .
I encourage you all to keep in touch with each other, stay in contact with your supervisor, and help someone in need or at risk. Implement social distancing in your life but also work on implementing a “Social Drink” through social platforms 😊. Facetime each other. Check on each other! We are strong and we will get through this. #bigdogsfamily #vegasstrong #vegasstronger
